E-Commerce & Content Platform

Be Nice Grace Wins

A headless Shopify storefront and devotional content platform for a faith brand with 1,800+ daily messages. Commerce, content, and community — unified under one roof.

The Problem

Frank Mann Jr. had been writing daily devotional messages since 2018. Over 1,800 messages, sent every single day to a growing audience via text message forwards. But there was no home for the archive. No way to browse past devotionals. No search, no categories, no way for new people to discover the content.

Beyond the devotionals, Frank had a brand — Be Nice Grace Wins — with merchandise, a message, and a community. But no platform connected the content, the commerce, and the community experience. He needed a website that could handle all three without feeling stitched together.

The Approach

This project required connecting multiple complex systems and making them feel like one seamless experience. The storefront runs on headless Shopify via the Storefront API — product variants, cart management, and checkout all handled through custom API integration rather than Shopify's default theme.

The devotional content system manages 1,800+ entries with category filtering, search, and a reading experience that keeps people engaged. Every devotional page is server-side rendered for SEO, meaning the entire archive is discoverable through Google.

Newsletter integration connects the content audience with the commerce audience. The entire platform was designed so Frank could manage everything himself — add new devotionals, update products, see what's resonating.

Making Complexity Disappear

The real technical challenge wasn't any single integration — it was making multiple API workflows feel invisible. Shopify Storefront API for products and checkout. A content management system for 1,800+ devotionals. Newsletter service for audience growth. Analytics for understanding engagement.

Each system has its own quirks, rate limits, and data shapes. The work was in abstracting all of that away so the end user — whether a customer buying merchandise or a reader browsing devotionals — never feels the complexity underneath.

The complexity was in making it feel simple.

The Result

Be Nice Grace Wins launched as a complete brand platform handling content, commerce, and community. The devotional archive is fully searchable and browsable. The store handles product sales with a clean checkout flow. The newsletter grows the audience.

Clean enough that the technology disappears and Frank's story takes center stage. That's the measure of success — when the tech serves the content, not the other way around.

Why This Project Matters

Be Nice Grace Wins demonstrates that DVW can build for a client — not just our own interests. It shows we can handle e-commerce complexity, integrate multiple APIs, build a content management system, and deliver a polished product where the technology is invisible. The client's brand and story come first. Always.
